The exhaust is a specially designed pipe system to channel the emissions away from
the front of your vehicle. Not only does it direct harmful gases away, it also reduces
engine noise and maintains optimum fuel efficiency.
All exhaust systems need maintaining, failure to do so will result in increase in
unwanted detrimental gases released into the air, polluting our environment. There
are six gases produced constantly during motoring. Nitrogen, carbon dioxide and
water vapour, are three less harmful than the others. Carbon monoxide, nitrogen
oxide and nitrogen monoxide are gases the exhaust tries to reduce.
The European Commission will be making these levels compulsory in the next few years
resulting in further regulatory controls to ensure all motorist keep their vehicle
emissions within a specified tolerance level.
Black Diamond suggest that everybody gets their exhaust and emissions checked twice
a year and not only when you have your MOT done. Ask them to check for cracks, mounting
rubber failures, corrosion, failed gaskets and high levels of pollutant gases.
This will help the environment and also your pocket. If any parts need replacing,
rather than leaving it to perish get it checked out so you do not end up having
to have a complete system replaced.
