Clutches
Clutches on vehicles in many cases tend to have a short life span. The clutch life
is affected by different driving techniques and types of motoring. Slipping the
clutch with the pedal partially depressed will increase wear, as will driving through
busy towns.
The two main indications that your clutch is deteriorating are..
- The engine revs before the car moves away
- Your gears start becoming difficult to select
At Black Diamond we only install new LUK & Valeo clutch assemblies. Other garages
may give cheaper quotes but you will probably find they are also giving you a cheaper
alternative of clutch.
We only use LUK & Valeo clutches as replacements to ensure matching reliability
to the original clutch fitted. Indeed if you require a clutch replacement at 80,000
miles it will probably be the original clutch in the vehicle and when a LUK or Valeo
clutch replacement is used, you are safe in the knowledge that its life expectancy
can be as good as your original. Even when your vehicle was made in the factory
it is more than likely a LUK or Valeo clutch was installed.

around 10,000 units per year. Our range of gearbox and axle units covers most makes
and models available in the U.K. and European car market and we can ship to UK mainland
overnight so you can have your part ready for the next day. If you are outside the
UK mainland then don't worry, we can get the parts to you in 2-3 working days!
We are also one of the only independent companies within the UK that has a multi-test
bench facility, which means that every transmission that we re-manufacture has been
extensively tested before it leaves the door. In 2001 Black Diamond underwent a
serious refit, which allows us to now make many of the components that we use in
the restoration of transmissions allowing for a quicker process and ensuring that
all of our components are of high quality.
